Privacy Notice

Who we are
Patrick VDV (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa, operates the GO VDV website. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice — we decide how and why your data is processed. You can reach us via patrickvdv.co.za/links.
Personal data we collect
- Contact details — such as your name and email address, when you contact us or request support.
- Payment-related data — payments are handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record; we receive transaction confirmations (order ID, amount, product) but not your full card details.
- Usage data — pages visited, features used (game scores, fan points, missions, secret codes) and approximate technical data such as IP address, browser type and device identifiers.
- Support messages — anything you send us when asking for help.
- Local storage data — your fan progress, unlocks and leaderboard entries are stored on your own device in your browser. We do not receive this data on our servers unless you later create an account.
Why we use your data (and our legal basis)
- To provide the website and digital products — including unlocking purchased content (performance of a contract).
- To run the fan programme — points, levels, badges, missions and the game (legitimate interests).
- Security and fraud prevention — protecting the site and our fans (legitimate interests and legal obligations).
- Customer support — answering your messages (performance of a contract).
- Product improvement — understanding how the site is used so we can make it better (legitimate interests or consent where required).
- Marketing — news about releases, only where you have opted in (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- Legal compliance — keeping records and responding to lawful requests (legal obligation).
Who we share data with
- Paddle.com — as Merchant of Record, Paddle processes payments, subscriptions, tax compliance and invoicing for our orders. Paddle's own privacy notice applies to its processing.
- Service providers — companies that host our website, deliver content and provide analytics and support tooling, under contract and only for the purposes above.
- Professional advisers — lawyers and accountants, where needed.
- Authorities — where required by law, court order or to protect rights and safety.
We never sell your personal data.
International transfers
Our service providers and Paddle may process data outside South Africa, including in the EU, UK and United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect your data.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above: transaction records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, support messages for up to 24 months, and analytics data in aggregated or anonymised form. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including South Africa's POPIA, and the GDPR if you are in the UK or EEA), you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- object to direct marketing at any time;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- request a portable copy of your data;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in South Africa, the Information Regulator.
We respond to rights requests within one month. Contact us via patrickvdv.co.za/links.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls and secure hosting. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your data seriously.
Cookies and local storage
This site uses browser local storage (not advertising cookies) to remember your fan progress, unlocked content and preferences on your device. This storage is functional — the site cannot remember your unlocks without it. You can clear it any time in your browser settings. If analytics or marketing cookies are added in future, we will update this notice and ask for your consent where required.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the site grows. The current version is always available on this page.
